Owl Mountain Models

Starting in April 2022, built-up OwlMtModels F-50-Series Flatcars will be available. These are finished models built by Jason Hill. These models are not a 'regular' production OwlMtModels item by any means, but the sale of single OwlMtModels kits, built up by the one who designed them. Jason has 25 years experence building models to operate at La Mesa Model Railroad Club. During this time he has built over 300 kits for operations in trains of over 50 cars up and down the 2.25% grades with helpers. The mechanical design of OwlMtModels F-50-series kits were designed using this operation and mechancical experience. This is your chance to get models that are individually assembled, painted, decalled and weathered to high-standards of prototypical practice and research.

Generally, the models are being built in "lots" of 2-5 models. Each model road name and number will not be repeated, unless it is of a specific prototype. The examples shown here are typical of what will come in the future.

Unlike most "Custom Models," assembled by custom modelers, these models are not "built to order" or "built under time pressures" usually associated with many custom builders. There's no speculation or unspecified vaguaries of asking for a model to be made. Instead, these are already completed models, with photos showing the finished models, built by Jason as he "has time", so no rushing. This also means that there is no forecast 'schedule' for the next lot to be ready to sell.

The lots of models may be built along certain themes, such as: 1920s or SPMW, or maybe transition era (1946-1954). Some models are built to match historical photos, or when possible, extra information about the prototype of the car. In some cases, Jason will have dug up interesting information about the car's future being retired after the modeled era.
